NSW: Gunmen fire at police while fleeing raceway heist
SYDNEY, Feb 21 AAP - Three robbers opened fire on pursuing police as they escaped aftera robbery at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway.
The men evaded police after abandoning a getaway car.
Overnight searches in western Sydney by a police helicopter and the dog squad foundno trace of the trio, police said.
The bandits escaped in a stolen Holden Commodore sedan after the hold-up at the racewayat 10.15pm (AEDT), firing shots at police.
Off-street drag racing at the track had been due to end at around 10pm.
They later abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
