ACT: Battle breaks out over tail docking of dogs

CANBERRA, Feb 28 AAP - A public battle is being waged between dog lovers over proposed
ACT legislation to ban tail docking.

The ACT Canine Association ran a pro-docking advertisement in a Canberra newspaper
today ahead of a rally tomorrow by the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and the
RSPCA to support the ban.

Dog breeders want the choice of whether to dock or not dock and said the AVA failed
to back up claims docking was cruel and unnecessary.

The Canine Association said docking tails when puppies were two to five days old …
