Vic: Relief from high winds on the way
Victorians may have to wait until well into the morning to mop up from yesterday's
storms .. with high winds and showers predicted for today.
Wind gusts up to 60 km/h are still possible .. especially in coastal areas .. where
wind squalls up to 100 km/h .. with possible showers or thunderstorms .. could also happen.
Snow is also predicted in alpine regions overnight.
One woman died yesterday when a brick wall fell on her in Melbourne's south .. while
Worksafe and police are investigating the death of a construction worker on a building
site in the city's south-east .. to see whether wind played a part.
The powerful winds cut electricity to more than 200 thousand homes and businesses in
Victoria .. with some expected to still be without power this morning.
The SES responded to more than two thousand calls calls by six last night (AEDT) ..
with hundreds of trees falling across roads and on houses .. cars and powerlines.
